Parking Garage Update

Meeting the needs of our community with plans for more parking

Salinas Valley Health is pleased to announce the first step in its campus improvement and modernization program with an expansion of our parking garage located on Wilgart Way. It replaces the existing surface parking lot between the garage and San Jose Street with a new structure featuring 245 new patient and staff parking spaces in a centralized location.

Some of the benefits will include:

  • Increased FREE valet parking for patients with a beautified drop-off area
  • Enhanced pedestrian access from the garage to the medical center, including canopy connection
  • Enhanced water-wise landscaping around the new structure and along Los Palos Drive

Downing Resource Center Parking Garage Annex and Ancillary Improvements: Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration

The DRC Annex project would amend the Salinas Valley Health Master Plan to relocate a planned parking structure along Los Palos Drive to the northeast corner of San Jose Street and Wilgart Way. The new parking structure would serve as an extension, or annex, to the existing Downing Resource Center parking structure, and upon completion would provide a net increase of 245 parking spaces. The new structure has been designed to have a similar height and appearance to the existing structure. The basement level of the DRC Annex will include approximately 20,000 square feet of additional occupied medical center office and support space. Above the basement will be four levels of parking.

The project includes ancillary improvements and relocation of certain medical center waste management functions (interim and permanent). These improvements include temporary relocation of general waste to 120 Wilgart Way, temporary on-site relocation hazardous and biohazardous waste yard, permanent relocation and consolidation of all waste streams, and pedestrian wayfinding/ADA improvements near the medical center entrance.
