Nurse Aide Receives STAR Award

SALINAS, CA December 9, 2022- Salinas Valley Health has recognized Myline Laurel with the STAR Award for the compassionate care and service she provides patients. Myline is a nurse aide in the Telemetry Department who exemplifies the Salinas Valley Health STAR values- Support, Teamwork, Accountability and Respect. She received the STAR Award in a special ceremony at the medical center on Thursday.
“This is such a wonderful surprise,” says Myline Laurel. “This STAR Award means so much to me. I take pride in taking care of our patients. I treat them like family. I love my job as well as my colleagues. They are so helpful and wonderful. We are a great team.”
Myline joined Salinas Valley Health in February 2022 and has been nominated three times for the STAR Award. In her most recent nomination, Ramona Macabugao, a registered nurse expressed, “Mylene is very patient and compassionate to our patients. Whenever she’s done with her duties for the time being, she stays close to the nurses’ station so when a patient calls for assistance she is right there to help as quickly as possible. She always gives her best to our patients”.
“Mylene doesn't wait for direction when she sees a need,” says clinical manager, Brett McCloskey, RN. “She jumps in to help with any care needed whether it is her assignment or not. Every registered nurse loves to see her name on our assignment board because they know the patients will get her 100% care and compassion. I wish we had a way to clone her attitude and passion. Myline is a dream employee!”
Several outstanding employees received STAR Award nominations including Evette Alonso, an Infusion Center Medical Assistant, Terri Mendez, a Cardiac Sonographer and Irma Penamante, a Unit Assistant in Med Surg.
Every month, Salinas Valley Health recognizes two extraordinary employees, one with a DAISY Award (for nurses) and another with a STAR Award (for all staff).
