November 15, 2024 – Salinas Valley Health has earned an eleventh consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a leading national nonprofit watchdog group. The independent organization assigns letter grades to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 measures of clinical data points demonstrated to uphold the highest standards of patient safety. It released the Fall Report Card for hospitals nationwide today.
“I am extremely proud of our consistent and long standing performance when it comes to quality and patient safety,” says Allen Radner, MD, Salinas Valley Health President/CEO. “We hold ourselves to the highest standards and the team at Salinas Valley Health proves an unwavering commitment to patient safety time and time again. It’s rewarding when the staff’s dedication can be objectively measured and evaluated by nationally recognized best practices.”
The Hospital Safety Score uses more than 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single letter grade ranging from “F” to “A”. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is administered by The Leapfrog Group to represent a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm.
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for any healthcare facility,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Salinas Valley Health, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
