Special Pharmacy Services
The Specialty Pharmacy service at Salinas Valley Health Retail Pharmacy provides medication and support for patients with complex health conditions (i.e. cancer). These medications often require special handling, careful monitoring, and ongoing coordination with your healthcare team. Our Specialty pharmacy team are highly trained, courteous staff who will work with you, your doctor, and your insurance provider to deliver quality specialty medication services. We are available 24 hours, 7 days a week to answer your specialty medication questions.
Through this service, the Specialty Pharmacy team will:
- Working with your doctor: We coordinate with your doctor to receive and prepare your medication.
- Help with insurance: Our team works with your insurance company to get approval for your medication.
- Finding ways to lower costs: We help look for copay programs or financial assistance that may reduce what you pay.
- Teaching you about your medication: Our pharmacists explain how to take your medication and what to expect.
- Refill reminders: We will contact you when it is time to refill your medication, so you do not run out.
- Checking in on your treatment: Our team may reach out to see how your medication is working and answer any questions.
- Support when you need it: Our pharmacy team is available to help if you have questions or concerns about your medication.

At Salinas Valley Health, we offer a free service called Meds-to-Beds that aims to improve our patients’ discharge experience. Salinas Valley Health Retail Pharmacy will deliver medications directly to your bedside prior to leaving the medical center, at no additional cost.
