Salinas Valley Health Hosts Free Community Flu Clinics in October

SALINAS, CA - Salinas Valley Health will offer four free community flu clinics throughout Monterey County in October, making it easier for residents to get their annual flu vaccine before the winter season.
No appointments are needed, and the clinics are open to all community members. Salinas Valley Health staff and Hartnell Nursing Student volunteers will provide the flu vaccinations at locations in Soledad, Gonzales, Salinas and Castroville.
“Every year, our clinical and non-clinical staff volunteer to take part in these flu clinics because we believe in the power of vaccination,” said Dr. Allen Radner, Salinas Valley Health President/CEO. “Getting vaccinated reduces the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and even death. Getting vaccinated also helps protect the most vulnerable people in our community. We want to help our community stay healthy this winter and encourage everyone to take advantage of our outreach efforts.”

Main Street Middle School
441 Main Street, Soledad
Saturday, Oct. 10, 11 am -2 pm
Taylor Farms Family Health & Wellness Center
850 Fifth Street, Gonzales
Monday, Oct. 19, 4-7 pm
Alisal High School
777 Williams Road, Salinas
Sunday, Oct. 25, noon-3 pm
Castroville Elementary School
11161 Merritt Street, Castroville
Two of the clinics, the ones in Gonzales and Castroville, also feature community resources and health fairs, giving residents an opportunity to connect with additional health and community services.
In addition to expanding access to care in underserved areas every week, Salinas Valley Health’s Mobile Clinic has long been a resource that supports the annual community flu clinic events. The program is made possible by employees who volunteer their time to help with vaccination, registration, Spanish translation, visitor flow and other activities.
