Salinas Valley Health Earns Top Honors from Healthgrades

Salinas, CA - Oct. 27, 2026 – Salinas Valley Health earned top honors for clinical quality from Healthgrades, an independent and respected resource for American consumers looking for exceptional doctors and hospitals.

Salinas Valley Health is pleased to announce that in addition to maintaining previous quality awards, the Medical Center has been named a Healthgrades 2027 Five-Star Recipient for Pacemaker Procedures, a new specialty care recognition for the organization. The pacemaker five-star recognition is in addition to being named a Healthgrades Critical Care hospital awarded with Five-Star Recognition for Treatment of Diabetic Hospitalizations three years in a row, from 2025-2027.

“Being named a top hospital in the nation reflects our team’s commitment to providing exceptional specialty and critical patient care,” says Allen Radner, MD, Salinas Valley Health President/CEO. “The Healthgrades recognition is in addition to our consecutive years of receiving a Leapfrog Patient Safety ‘A’ Grade. We take pride in getting high marks from independent evaluations of the care we provide to our community.”

Healthgrades announces recognition based solely on patient outcomes. Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance on objective clinical outcomes, risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates across more than 30 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

The impact of choosing a high-performing hospital is significant. Healthgrades’ 2027 analysis revealed that if all hospitals performed at the level of five-star rated facilities during the 2023-2025 study period, 227,229 lives could have been saved and 158,138 complications could have been avoided.*

“Finding a hospital that excels in a given procedure or treatment can transform a patient’s health trajectory,” said Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades. “We’re proud to recognize Salinas Valley Health for its top-tier performance in both cardiac and critical care achievement areas and commend its team for delivering exceptional patient outcomes when it matters most.”
