May 7, 2025 -  The 2025 kick-off to the Salinas Valley Health Farmers’ Market offers much more than fresh fruit and vegetables. The event on Friday, May 9 is a designated Community Health Day and features an array of bonus attractions and free services for the entire family, including access to the Mobile Clinic.

The annual tradition which runs this year from May 9 though November 7 has become a weekly favorite for Salinas Valley Health staff, nearby neighborhood families and the entire community. The destination hot spot for fresh fruit and produce, locally grown florals and delicious prepared foods is the MRI parking lot adjacent to the entrance to Salinas Valley Health Medical Center at 450 E. Romie Lane in Salinas. Free parking is available in the parking garage at E. Romie and Wilgart Way.

“This Friday is going to be an amazing gathering of health and wellness resources and a lot of fun for everyone attending,” says Amanda Meyer, Health Promotion Manager at Salinas Valley Health. “We look forward to seeing our neighbors and community members at this extra special kick-off event.”

The 2025 season opens with new hours from 11:30am - 4:30pm and an expanded list of popular local vendors, plus the opportunity to win fun prizes. As a featured Community Health Day, the Mobile Clinic will be onsite, 11:30am - 3:30pm, providing free health screenings. In addition, the Salinas Valley Health Pharmacy Team will have an education table to share how families can access discounted and expedited prescription medications through the Medical Center’s on-site Retail Pharmacy. The dedicated and compassionate team from the Susan Bacon Cancer Resource Center will share the many expanded resources available to all community members whose lives are touched by a cancer diagnosis. Guests do not need to be a cancer patient at Salinas Valley Health to access valuable support and services.

People who receive CalFresh benefits (food stamps) and who use their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards at the Farmers’ Market can receive bonus money toward the purchase of fruits and vegetables. The Farmers’ Market is supported and funded by Salinas Valley Health, in partnership with Everyone’s Harvest, a local nonprofit that operates certified farmers’ markets in Monterey County.
