Two board certified physicians specializing in radiation oncology and family medicine are taking part in the latest Ask the Experts virtual events hosted by Salinas Valley Health. The free Facebook Live Spanish and English language events on Wednesday, June 30th will focus on men’s health and prostate cancer.

“These virtual events are a great opportunity for the men in our community and the women in their lives to learn about the signs, symptoms and treatments of prostate cancer from the comfort of their home,” says Pete Delgado, President/CEO of Salinas Valley Health. “We encourage you to watch these free presentations. The information and advice provided by our physicians can save lives.”

According to the American Cancer Society, other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men and is the leading cause of cancer deaths after lung cancer for men in this country. It’s estimated that more than 248,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2021.

Bilingual physicians Kenneth Biehl, MD, and Peter Oppenheim, MD, will be the presenters of the June 30 virtual events. Dr. Kenneth Biehl is a radiation oncologist who treats patients living with cancer and Dr. Peter Oppenheim is a family medicine physician who focuses on preventive medicine and healthy lifestyles.

“It is estimated that one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer,” says radiation oncologist Kenneth Biehl, MD. “It’s important to know, that while prostate cancer can be deadly, it is usually a slow growing type of cancer and is treatable if diagnosed early.”

“We encourage men to get a checkup with their family physician on a yearly basis,” says family medicine physician Peter Oppenheim, MD. “We want to be their partner in health and wellness. They can begin by tuning in and watching our virtual presentations. We will also answer their questions.”

The Spanish language Ask the Experts presentation on Men’s Health and Prostate Cancer takes place Wednesday, June 30, at 2:00pm. The English language presentation takes place at 3:30pm on the medical center's Facebook page @Salinas Valley Health.
