Salinas Valley Health Launches Salinas Valley Health Mobile Clinic Initiative

Salinas Valley Health is rolling out its latest initiative to increase access to quality care and improve the health and well-being of the community. More than 150 people gathered to mark the launch of the Salinas Valley Health Salinas Valley Health Mobile Clinic.

“We deliver care far beyond the four walls of our hospital,” says Pete Delgado, President/CEO of Salinas Valley Health. “The Salinas Valley Health Mobile Clinic is the latest example of our commitment to deliver no-cost healthcare to underserved areas in Salinas and surrounding communities.”

The Salinas Valley Health Mobile Clinic is designed to offer families primary and preventative care at no cost to them and removes barriers such as expense, travel or fear. Services include primary care, simple urgent care, health screenings, immunizations, education, and referral capability for chronic medical conditions.

The need for life saving preventative care was underscored this week when Monterey County Health Department confirmed the first flu related death of the new year, the third for this flu season. Doctors stress it is not too late to get vaccinated and flu vaccinations are one of the many services offered by the Clinic. Scheduled stops in Salinas and surrounding areas start next week.

“The flu is not just a bad cold,” says Dr. Orlando Rodriquez, Salinas Valley Health Mobile Clinic Medical Director. “Complications from the flu can have serious consequences and we know taking medical care directly into neighborhoods will improve access to the quality care our community needs and deserves.”

The Salinas Valley Health Salinas Valley Health Mobile Clinic customized vehicle is 30 feet long and houses two exam rooms and waiting area. The initial schedule will include three Salinas locations, Castroville and Greenfield. After a few months of operation, the stops will be evaluated to determine the possibility of additional locations.
