SALINAS, CA, May 4, 2019 – About 60 people attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony today celebrating the advancement of cancer care in Monterey County. The crowd included state and city representatives recognizing Salinas Valley Health for the completion of an advanced Outpatient Infusion Center to serve cancer patients in the region.
“We all know people who have been impacted by this deadly disease,” said State Senator Anna Caballero. “Once again, the leadership at Salinas Valley Memorial has recognized a need in the community and demonstrated a commitment to investing in outstanding care.”
The 7580 square-foot facility is located directly across the street from Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and on the same block as Salinas Valley Health Clinics Cancer Care, where patients see their oncology doctors and also on the same block as the Susan Bacon Cancer Resource Center, open to cancer patients and their families regardless of where they may be receiving their cancer treatment.
“Our clinical staff and nurses who care for cancer patients put their hearts into their profession,” said Pete Delgado, President/CEO of Salinas Valley Health. “This new state-of-the-art center offers a comfortable environment and the ability to deliver highly personalized care.”
The Outpatient Infusion Center will provide a range of services including chemotherapy infusion, immunotherapy, blood transfusion, injections and lab draws to name a few. The center includes private rooms, 14 infusion bays and a team of specialists on site to help patients and their families.
“This hospital is a very strong component of this community,” said Salinas Mayor Roy Gunter. “ Today you just made it stronger.”
Funds from Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Volunteer Service League contributed to the construction costs of building the 3.6 million dollar facility. The Outpatient Infusion Center is located at 515 East Romie Lane in Salinas will begin serving patients on Monday, May 13
