Salinas Valley Health Nurse Aide Receives STAR Award
SALINAS, CA, January 28, 2019- Salinas Valley Health has recognized Aida Aromin with the STAR Award for the compassionate care and service she provides patients. Aromin is a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) who exemplifies the Salinas Valley Health STAR values- Support, Teamwork, Accountability and Respect. She received the STAR Award in a special ceremony at the medical center and was recognized by the publicly elected board of directors during the board’s January meeting.
“I’m overwhelmed, this is such an honor,” says Aida Aromin, CNA. “I love taking care of our patients and working in this unit. I couldn’t do my job without the support of my wonderful colleagues. We are a team.”
Aromin joined Salinas Valley Health in 2000. More than a dozen co-workers including nurses and nurse aides nominated Aromin for the STAR Award. They expressed she goes above and beyond for her patients, that she is a pleasure to work with and that “she has a heart of gold.” One colleague shared how Aromin treated the condition of a patient without permanent housing. “The patient had head lice. Aida provided the most excellent kind and compassionate care for this man. She gave him a shave and cut his hair and made him feel like a human being. She was very kind.”
“Aida is a wonderful human being and certified nurse aide,” says Christie Gonder, RN, Chief Nursing Officer. “She always provides compassionate care to our patients and is passionate about providing a warm, therapeutic and healing environment for them and their families. We are very fortunate she is a part of our dedicated team.”
Several employees received STAR Award nominations including Virginia Alcala, Abdul Asir, Spencer Guzman, Graciela Partida, Henry Porraz, Elizabeth Scott, Patricia Solis, Ricardo Villagomez and Silvia Zavala. Every month, Salinas Valley Health recognizes an outstanding employee with a STAR Award (for all staff) or a DAISY Award (for nurses).
