SALINAS, CA, March 23, 2018- Stephanie Frizzell, RN, BSN is the March recipient of the DAISY Award at Salinas Valley Health. Salinas Valley Health participates in the national DAISY Award Program, which celebrates compassionate and skillful nursing care. Frizzell is a Clinical Nurse Educator in the Education Department.

“It is an honor to be recognized by my colleagues,” says Stephanie Frizzell, RN, BSN. “I get great satisfaction helping people during their time of need. Nursing isn’t just about helping people get better, it’s about educating them and their families to they can continue on their journey of health once they leave the hospital and this is something we do as a team.”

Frizzell joined Salinas Valley Health in June of 2007 as a Nurse Aide in the Medical Surgery Unit. The following year she started working as registered nurse in the same unit. Ten and a half years later, in January of 2018 she transferred to the Education Department where she currently works as a Clinical Nurse Educator. A colleague nominated Frizzell for the DAISY Award expressing that she is a great leader who constantly goes above and beyond. The co-worked shared, “I had a psychiatric patient that was out of control and refused to communicate with me. Stephanie stepped in and showed a well-developed ability to bring the patient down in order to move forward in the care process. She knew just how and when to intervene in a way to resolve the situation. Stephanie is the absolute best!”

“Stephanie is an extremely talented registered nurse,” says Christie Gonder, RN, Chief Nursing Officer. “She excelled at treating and caring for patients and also had a profound impact in their lives due to her emphasis on educating them about their health. We are lucky that Stephanie was part of the 3rd Floor team and are confident she is sharing her vast knowledge with the new generation of Salinas Valley Memorial registered nurses in the Education Department.”

Frizzell was recognized by the publicly elected Board of Directors at its March board meeting. The following employees were also nominated for the March DAISY Award: Renee Armenta, RN, Delories Colclough, RN, Jamie Crompton, RN, Jennifer Hiller, RN, Sara Silacci, RN, Shannon Valdez, RN and Rachel Velasco, RN.
