Salinas Valley Health Emergency Room Physician Part of National Medical Disaster Relief Team

SALINAS, CA, October 13, 2017 – The wildfires burning in California are not the only disaster requiring immediate emergency assistance. The federal government is sending four National Disaster Medical Assistant Teams (DMAT) which includes one local physician to Puerto Rico to help with medical emergency needs. The Assistant Medical Director of the ER at Salinas Valley Health has been deployed to the region in crisis.

Nicolas Greenson, MD left Sunday and will be spending 15 days on the island of Puerto Rico. Dr. Greenson is one of the medical personnel participating in four 7 person DMAT deployment units providing direct medical care to patients in the disaster zones affected by Hurricane Maria more than two weeks ago.

DMAT Teams are comprised of medical personnel organized to provide medical care throughout the United States and its territories.
