Salinas Valley Health Kicks Off Medical Adventure Camp

SALINAS, CA, July 17, 2017- Salinas Valley Health (Salinas Valley Health) is kicking off its 16th annual Medical Adventure Camp this week. The two week day camp is for children 10 to 12 years of age and provides an up close and personal look at the many career and volunteer opportunities in health care.

“Medical Adventure Camp is a wonderful opportunity for children,” says Shannon Graham, Director, Volunteer & Health Career Services. “Campers learn about a variety of health-related topics in interactive classes and activities led by physicians, clinical staff and volunteers. It’s a fun way for them to learn and hopefully for us to develop future healthcare providers.”

Medical Adventure Camp provides positive role models and opportunities for bonding with kids of diverse backgrounds. It also exposes the students to the benefits of compassionate patient care. Student volunteers help guide the campers, while hospital staff and physicians present classes and activities.

To date, more than 150 kids have participated in Medical Adventure Camp. Medical Adventure Camp is sponsored by the Children’s Miracle Network, the hospital’s medical staff and the Service League Volunteers. This year’s camp is taking place from July 17th - 28th from 9:30am-3:00pm.
