About the provider
As a native Spanish speaker and Colombian immigrant, Henry Sanchez, MD, brings deep personal insight and empathy to his role as a hospitalist and patient advocate. He is committed to advancing compassionate, culturally responsive care, especially for immigrant and underserved communities.
Dr. Sanchez joined the hospitalist medicine team at Salinas Valley Health in 2025 after completing his Family Medicine Residency at Natividad Medical Center. His clinical interests include hospital-based medicine, holistic and palliative care, and medical education.
Throughout his medical training, Dr. Sanchez has led and contributed to a range of quality improvement initiatives, including harm reduction efforts in the County of Monterey’s jail system and expansion of access to long-acting treatments for alcohol use disorder. He also helped increase advanced care planning through a project focused on Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) documentation. In addition, Dr. Sanchez worked on curricular improvements for resident and student education as morning report co-chief. In the third year of his residency, he completed a UCSF fellowship, gaining advanced training in reproductive justice and advocacy.
Dr. Sanchez has been recognized by the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his compassionate approach to care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys photography – particularly landscape and drone-based aerial shots – long-distance cycling along the Central Coast and large-scale Lego projects.
