This four-class series provides education on the skills to live healthfully with diabetes.
Class number 1 provides an introduction on the basics of diabetes including a review of:
- Risk factors for developing diabetes
- What is happening in the body when someone has diabetes
- Symptoms of diabetes
- How diabetes gets diagnosed
- Different types of diabetes
- Blood sugar monitoring
Participants must be diagnosed with diabetes to attend and will need a physician's referral.
Many insurance plans, including Medi-Cal and Medicare, cover diabetes education classes. A cash pay price is available. Participants may bring one guest free of charge.
