Health Promotion Department

At Salinas Valley Health, we believe that health extends beyond the walls of the medical center. The Health Promotion Department is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our community and workforce through education, prevention, and access to wellness resources.

Guided by priorities identified through the Community Health Needs Assessment, our team develops and coordinates programs that support healthier lifestyles, empowers individuals with knowledge and skills, and helps address the health needs of Monterey County residents.

Our programs and services are designed to meet people where they are in their wellness journey. Offerings include fitness and mindfulness classes, childbirth preparation and breastfeeding education, maternity center tours, CPR/AED certification courses, Legal Issues for Life Planning classes, Walk With A Doc events, community flu clinics, our seasonal Community Farmers' Market and more. Many of these programs are offered free of charge, making health education and wellness resources accessible to all.

In addition to serving the community, the Health Promotion Department supports employee wellness initiatives that encourage healthy habits, physical activity, and overall well-being among the Salinas Valley Health workforce.

Whether you are preparing for a new addition to your family, seeking opportunities to improve your health, or simply wanting to connect with wellness resources in our community, we are here to help. Explore our upcoming classes, events, and programs through our quarterly Pathways to Wellness brochure and join us in building a healthier community.
