Shehzad Aziz, MD

About the provider

With a longtime focus on cancer care, Shehzad Aziz, MD, is an expert clinician who also works to break new ground in the fight against cancer. A Principal Investigator for Clinical Research and Clinical Trials for the Cancer Clinical Research Program at Salinas Valley Health, Dr. Aziz oversees a wide range of oncology research studies aimed at advancing the understanding of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Aziz completed his internship and residency at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, California. Later moving to Boston, he finished a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Boston University Medical Center.

Relocating from Boston to the Central Coast of California in 1998, Dr. Aziz worked at Pacific Cancer Care while also serving as a Principal Investigator for oncology trials at Salinas Valley Health.

He has been a member of the Cancer Care Committee at Salinas Valley Health since 1999. The multidisciplinary group assesses, implements, reviews and evaluates services and goals to ensure patients receive the most up to date and comprehensive care. This includes development of strategic plans and oversight of the oncology program at Salinas Valley Health. Dr. Aziz also served on the medical center’s Institutional Review Board from 2002 to 2012.

In addition to treating patients, Dr. Aziz continues oncology research with a goal of improving patient health and care.
