Kristin B. Leonard, DO

About the provider

Kristin Burstedt Leonard, DO, joined the Salinas Valley Health team of hospitalist in 2019. She feels tremendous privilege in caring for our patients when they are acutely ill at our medical center. Dr. Leonard gives her undivided attention to solving diagnostic issues and supporting the emotional journey of her patients and their families. She is interested in the management of medically complex adult patients, addiction medicine, mental health, and metabolic health including diabetes and obesity.

Dr. Leonard earned her medical degree from Des Moines University and completed her residency at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California. She later completed a global health fellowship with the University of California, San Francisco HEAL initiative, focusing on global challenges affecting our local community.

Since her fellowship, Dr. Leonard has worked in the clinic and medical center environment, focusing on the whole person. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

When not working, Dr. Leonard enjoys spending time with her family, hiking at Garrapata State Park or the Monterey Recreation Trail, and working on whole food recipes.
