About the provider
A native of Salinas, California, orthopedic surgeon John Bonano, MD, is dedicated to helping patients regain mobility and return to the activities they love. Dr. Bonano specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery, combining advanced training in joint reconstruction with a lifelong dedication to teamwork, discipline and performance – qualities he developed both in the operating room and as a former college athlete.
Dr. Bonano focuses on treating hip and knee arthritis through a full spectrum of care, including non-operative management, direct anterior hip replacement, total and partial knee replacements, robotic-assisted surgery, and revision procedures. He is committed to staying at the forefront of evidence-based techniques and improving long-term patient outcomes.
Throughout his training, Dr. Bonano contributed to clinical research on joint replacement, sports medicine and healthcare outcomes, with multiple publications and national presentations. He has also remained active in community service, mentoring student athletes and volunteering with organizations like Special Olympics and the Alisal Health Academy.
When he’s not in the clinic or operating room, Dr. Bonano enjoys football, basketball, soccer, golf, fitness, nutrition, yoga, meditation, exploring national parks, hiking and spending time with his dogs. He is proud to return to his hometown to serve the community that shaped him.
