About the provider
Jamie González, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician who has served as a hospitalist at Salinas Valley Health since July 2016. He provides comprehensive inpatient care for adults hospitalized with serious and complex medical conditions, with an emphasis on evidence-based treatment, clear communication and compassionate bedside care.
Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Dr. González is a first-generation college and medical school graduate. His lived experience, combined with his professional training, have shaped his deep commitment to advancing health equity and expanding opportunities in medicine. He is dedicated to strengthening systems of care while ensuring that patients and families feel heard, respected and supported during hospitalization.
Dr. González previously served as Chair of the Department of Medicine at Salinas Valley Health. He remains actively involved in organizational leadership through services on multiple committees focused on care delivery, advancing patient advocacy and enhancing the overall patient experience.
With formal training in public health and health policy, Dr. González integrates clinical care with community engagement. He participates annually in the medical center’s Summer Health Institute, where he mentors high school students interested in healthcare careers and encourages the next generation of diverse healthcare professionals.
