DAISY Award Recipient Recognized for Lasting Impact

The importance of receiving compassionate care can take on even greater significance when a family loses their loved one to a devastating illness. A woman mourning the loss of her sister wanted to honor her sibling and recognize the care provided on the oncology unit by Chanthary Pich BSN, RN. Chanthary first joined Salinas Valley Health in 2019 and the nomination makes her the latest recipient of the DAISY Award for exceptional nursing care.
During a ceremony on the unit, Chanthary respectfully remembered the patient and her desire to do everything possible to support the patient and her family. In submitting a request to recognize Chanthary for the DAISY Award, the patient’s sister wrote, “Nurse Chan was amazing. She made certain that my sister was always comfortable, clean and if someone wasn’t available, she’d step-in, even if my sister wasn’t her patient. She has a calling like no other and takes great pride in her work.”
“I appreciate the award,” said Chanthary Pich BSN, RN, oncology nurse at Salinas Valley Health. “I also appreciate all of my co-workers on the oncology unit and everyone at the hospital. The patient care we provide is all about teamwork. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this team.”

Every month, Salinas Valley Health recognizes two extraordinary employees, one with a DAISY Award (for nurses) and another with a STAR Award (for all staff).
