Patrick M. Chen, MD

About the provider

Patrick Chen, MD knows that people experience illness differently and have goals and targets that are unique to them. That’s why his approach to patient care centers on education, conversations about treatment options and collaboration with the patient to choose the best course of action. His choice of career and his approach were inspired by the physician who cared for him the first 30 years of his life. Every visit was an education and Dr. Chen has always wanted to create the same experience for others.

He earned his medical degree in 1996 from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Washington, D.C. and completed his residency at George Washington University Hospital. Dr. Chen is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is currently a member at large for the medical executive committee and has twice served as chair of the department of medicine at Salinas Valley Memorial. He is also a member of the Monterey Bay Independent Physician Association board. Married with two children, two dogs and two cates, Dr. Chen is an avid golfer and happiest when on the course with his son.
