Idean Pourshams, MD

About the provider

Raised in the Bay Area, Idean Pourshams, MD, is honored to care for patients on California’s Central Coast while being close to family. He is dedicated to helping individuals achieve their health goals through clear communication, collaboration and shared decision-making. 

Dr. Pourshams earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest, and went on to complete a clinical research fellowship in cardiology at Stanford University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in physiology from the University of California, Davis. 

His professional interests include preventive care, chronic disease management, cardiovascular health, and sports medicine. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Pourshams has valuable experience in clinical research, healthcare technology, and cardiovascular medical devices, allowing him to integrate evidence-based medicine with innovative approaches to patient care. 

With a particular passion for sports medicine, Dr. Pourshams has provided sideline and event medical coverage for high school athletics, collegiate sports programs, marathons, and triathlons. He is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and has presented research at national conferences. 

Committed to serving his community, Dr. Pourshams has volunteered with outreach programs that support underserved and vulnerable populations. He believes that compassionate, patient-centered care is essential to improving health outcomes and building lasting relationships with patients. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Pourshams enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active and exploring California’s diverse landscapes and natural beauty.
